Maintenance Assistant (2nd Shift)

This position will serve as an integral part of a team that is responsible for the maintenance and care of the grounds with a focus on the guests, buildings, equipment and unique structures within Dow Gardens. We are seeking people-oriented individuals with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and a desire to work in a public venue. In addition to outlined maintenance work, duties will also include general grounds work including snow removal, mowing, weeding, pathway cleaning and other tasks as necessary. This position will primarily have 2nd shift responsibilities which will adjust and flex with the seasonal time changes of the organization.

Seasonal Grounds Crew

This position will involve general outdoor grounds maintenance tasks for Dow Gardens which includes Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens. Grounds work may include mowing, weeding, planting, pruning, pulling of brush, any other landscape tasks, under the direction of a supervisor. Responsible for completing assigned work properly and efficiently. Comply with weekly employee work schedules and applicable safety training. Other duties as assigned.

Internships

Collections Intern

Dow Gardens is seeking an intern for its History Department, which is responsible for managing the family archives as well as preservation and programs inside of Herbert and Grace’s 1899 home, The Pines. The intern will work under the leadership of the Historian and focus on cataloguing, researching, moving, and storing artifacts in the collection. The intern will also gain experience leading tours, working in the archive, and running programs. The intern will be expected to lead a presentation of their work to the Dow Gardens staff. This is a 14-week, paid internship.
